Jodi Hagen - violin

Jodi Hagen, a native of Peabody, MA and sister of Double Bassist Susan Hagen, appears with Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Boston Classical Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Boston, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Opera Boston, and the Boston Ballet Orchestra.

She also enjoys a solo career and with Scandia Duo, performing concerts and recitals all over New England and has won numerous honors for her solo and chamber music work.

She earned violin performance degrees at Boston University, studying with Roman Totenberg. (more...)


Steve Laven - Cello

Steven Laven, a South Bend, Indiana native, appears with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, Boston Baroque, Boston Symphony and Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra.  He is also an adjunct instructor at Rhode Island College, performing in the faculty Proteus String Quartet. 

Previously, Mr. Laven has held titled positions in the Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera and Omaha Symphony Orchestras. 

He has earned cello performance degrees from the Eastman and Manhattan Schools of Music.  He is the string director at the St. Mark’s School and enjoys composing and arranging music for string players of all levels. (more...)

Susan Hagen - Double Bass

A Boston native, Susan Hagen received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Double Bass Performance from Boston University, graduating with honors as a student of Edwin Barker, principal bass of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

An active free-lancer, for the past five seasons Susan has spent most of her time performing as an extra player with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. (more...)
